Transferring to Brandeis University

At Brandeis, students can apply a maximum of six graduate credits (up to two courses) towards a master’s degree.*

The credits must be:

  • Graduate-level credits
  • From a regionally accredited U.S. institution
  • No more than five years old

Only courses with a grade of B- or higher will be considered. Transfer credit is awarded for courses with an equivalent course in the relevant master’s degree curriculum. Courses cannot be considered for transfer credit if they are part of a previously completed degree or certificate program, and no transfer credit requests will be considered for the final two graduate-level courses in a master’s program.

*Transfer credits are not accepted for the MSBA.

Military Admissions Process

Brandeis welcomes U.S. military service members, veterans and their spouses. We are a proud Yellow Ribbon School. Our military students and their spouses receive a 15% tuition discount.

Our flexible online programs can be continued through deployments or paused for military activities. Speak with your enrollment counselor for more information.

International Admissions Process

International students are welcome at Brandeis University.

If you did not earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, you must submit an English proficiency score. You are exempt from this if you meet one of the following conditions:

We recommend the following minimum scores to ensure your success in our programs:

  • Internet-based TOEFL: 100
  • IELTS: 7

If you earned your degree outside the United States, you must submit your records (official transcripts/mark sheets) for a course-by-course evaluation by either Education Credential Evaluators (ECE) of Madison, Wis., or World Education Services (WES) of New York. Applicants are responsible for the evaluation fee.

Students in our STEM-designated online programs are not eligible for OPT.
